Estonia: attractions, cities, recreation

Holidays in Estonia

Holidays in Estonia are walks in the fresh air along the shores of the Baltic Sea, stay in modern spas and, of course, get acquainted with the sights of the cities of the republic. The main city of Estonia, attracting the attention of tourists, is its capital - the city of Tallinn. However, other localities, resorts and small towns, where a special spirit reigns, are of no less interest. There are only four major cities in Estonia: Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu and Narva. Their history goes back several centuries. The most important sights of Estonia are concentrated here - ancient castles, houses and city streets, museums, monuments of architecture and sculptural compositions that have survived from the Middle Ages. You should also pay attention to the suburbs, where you can also find a lot of beautiful places for recreation and cultural experiences. Estonia can be proud not only of its cities with a long history, but also of beautiful nature. Local forests and lakes deserve special attention. Of particular interest are tourist swamps, many of which are located near large cities. Nature holidays in Estonia are best planned in summer, when the weather is conducive to long-term outdoor living. However, it is equally interesting to look at the marsh and in the snowy winter when the landscape changes beyond recognition and becomes unusually mysterious. Estonia is a great place to relax, familiar to many from childhood. In addition to historical attractions, today there are many interactive museums here, festivals and exhibitions are held regularly. Do not miss your chance to get acquainted with this small Baltic republic and take part in exciting events.

13 REASONS TO GO TO SCOTLAND

Scotland is a paradise for those who want to test their strength. A seemingly innocuous hill can easily turn out to be an impregnable summit, a summer walk to become an Arctic expedition, and crossing a tiny river turn into an unexpected rafting. But stunningly beautiful views, traces of ancient history at every turn, and a sexy Scottish accent redeem everything. 1. Sunbathe on the most secluded beach in Europe . "Azure Sea", "white sand" and other Caribbean-Maldivian stamps are difficult to apply to Scotland. Unless, of course, we are not talking about the beaches of Harris Island. To get to them is not easy - by plane from Glasgow or Inverness or by ferry to Stornoway, and then another hour and a half by car along serpentines and landscapes resembling the moon. But then your only neighbors will be wild ponies and dolphins. 2. Spend the night in a lunatic asylum The Scots are famous for their eccentricity and lightweight "gravest" humor - n...

Switzerland

Switzerland is a destination for lovers of impeccability in everything. The best ski resorts of the Alps, impeccable service in high-class hotels and an excellent "excursion" in ancient cities and castles. Someone Switzerland may seem boring, someone - too expensive, but someone will find there the most charming castles in the world, and the other - the best routes of the Alps. And everyone will be right in their own way. So it is not surprising that the ski resorts in Switzerland are divided into two categories: for billionaires and millionaires. Let this be a clear exaggeration, but there is a bit of truth in it: the prestige factor is the main tourist trump card implying tangible financial costs. However, the direction has a lot of other advantages: licked tracks for every taste, the best mountain hotels in the world and a whole mass of historical sights, mostly castles. Of the minuses, it is possible to distinguish all the same high cost ... however, as you k...

All Lithuanians know a legend about establishment of Vilnius city. It was the beginning of 14th century when Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas stopped for an overnight near confluence of Neris and Vilnele rivers. That night he dreamt an iron wolf howling on a hill. In the morning his soothsayer Lizdeika explained his dream as a sign for him to build here a city as it will become a well known and widely resounded in all over the World. Gediminas ordered to pour a mound at the same place he slept. On the hill there a castle was built, the predecessor for the nowadays Gediminas castle. According to archeological researches, the hill where Gediminas castle stands nowadays was already inhabited in a Neolithic period. In 11-13th centuries a wooden castle here stood. The same as Vilnius city, it was mentioned in 1323 for the first time. For more than 250 years since 1315, when a dynasty of Gediminaičiai ruled the Grand Duke of Lithuania, the complex of Vilnius castl...
