Remote 43 km (27 mi) northeast from Madeira, the uninhabited Porto Santo was discovered in early 15th century. Just like Madeira archipelago, Porto Santo is rocky, with sculpted sand waves, beautiful rugged and sandy beaches. The capital Vila Baleira was once home for Christopher Columbus himself.
